Each day of Red Ribbon Week at Kenwood Station Elementary School in Crestwood, Kentucky, had a different, but related, focus. On Monday, students pledged to be PAWS-itively healthy and signed pledge stickers. Tuesday, they dressed up as professionals and discussed being PAWS-itively successful in life. Wednesday, the youngsters wrote drug refusal statements on paw prints and showed they were PAWS-itively born to be drug free. Thursday, students composed raps and cheers about their school PAWS-itively having good character. And Friday everyone wore the school colors for PAWS-itively school spirit day. Kenwood used “PAWS”-itively Drug Free” Water Bottles and “PAWS”-itively Drug Free” T-Shirts in its activities.
Leaders unite with the common goal of raising a generation of drug-free children who make healthy choices. The good news is that, thanks to creative approaches to anti-drug education, Red Ribbon Week has captured the attention of millions of young people.
