Dogs and being drug free went together like peanut butter and jelly at Acmetonia Primary School in Cheswick, Pennsylvania. On Monday of Red Ribbon Week, students pledged to stay free of drugs and received “PAWS”-itively Drug Free” Dog Tags. Then on Tuesday, a trained therapy dog named Brody came to Acmetonia. He walked through each classroom wearing a homemade vest that said “PAWS”-itively No Drugs” on one side and “Keep your tail out of jail” on the other. Students who wore their dog tags all week were entered into a prize drawing on Friday. During your own canine-themed celebration, use “PAWS”-itively Drug Free Grippers as prizes.
Leaders unite with the common goal of raising a generation of drug-free children who make healthy choices. The good news is that, thanks to creative approaches to anti-drug education, Red Ribbon Week has captured the attention of millions of young people.
